Valentines Day - Round 2

Only 8 days left to find your knight in shining armour to whisk you away to your happily ever after.....in the meantime I hope you enjoy the 2nd of my Valentines Day manicures. This one is a little more traditional with pink and hearts a plenty.

The pink is Barry M - Strawberry Ice cream. The black is China Glaze - Liquid Leather. 

On my thumb I used Daring Digits - Blackberry Square which is quickly becoming my most loved indie. I'm a sucker for anything black and white and its got squares in it....oh yeah. For my pinkie I used silver metal studs. It was so hard to get a good picture of them, they are super shiny and amazing and I will be using them again very soon. You can get the studs here. The little heart is this gorgeous stick on black opal mini gem. Its a black holographic colour and I cant stop staring at it! They come in a set with 9 other colours and you can get them here. 

The hearts on my index and middle fingers were stamped. Index was MLS-05 plate and the hearts in a row were created by Natalie from NailCraze NC 01. I think I totally fluked getting them in the middle of my nail. The plate stamped beautifully and I cant wait to try the butterfly prints and the feather.

Daring Digits - More Dots

Apologies for being MIA lately. Lots been going down in this crazy place we call Australia. Bush fires and heat waves in one state, mini tornados and devastating floods in two others. I spent Monday helping out my two wonderful sisters save their gym and pool from flooding again. They were completely inundated in January 2011 and for a while there it looked like it was happening all over again. But thankfully the river peak was lower than expected and the gym and pool were spared. However thousands of families across QLD and NSW have had their lives devastated by the recent floods and its heartbreaking to see them going through it all again when many had only just finished rebuilding from 2011. Not to trivialise anything but lets move on to something a little more uplifting....

Daring Digit - More Dots

This is one layer of More Dots over one layer of Barry M Black.

This polish is a grey jelly base with multi coloured round glequins. You could wear it alone however you would need 3 or 4 coats to opacity. The application was pretty good, I did have to move the glequins around a little to space them out but that's pretty normal for indie glitters. You can find Daring Digits here.

Daring Digits Before Color

Always a sucker for Indie polishes, especially one with large black round glequins mixed into smaller white hex glitters, I was most excited to get my paws on Daring Digits Before Color. After using a few other Daring Digits polishes I had high hopes for this polish, unfortunately it fell very short of my expectations.

I layered Before Color over Zoya Kristi, a bright fire engine red with a blue base. 

The application of Before Color was HORRENDOUS! It may be the worst polish in my collection application wise. Trying to use the brush was just pointless, no large black dots would come out unless I dug for them. Even after storing the bottle upside down for 10 minutes it was still so difficult to get the large black dots out. So I resorted to using a toothpick to pick out the black dots then apply them individually. As for the white hexagon glitters....arrrgh! They came out fine using the brush however they were often stacked one on top of each other so on application when I tried to spread them out they wouldn't come apart as the base had kind of glued them together, you can see in the picture how the white hexagons are close together on the nail... that's why. When I did try to pull them apart it dug into the red polish and smeared it, fail!

I love the concept of this polish, the colours...right up my alley but when you have to spend half an hour individually placing the glitters you may as well just use free glitter and glue them on with top coat. Sad Panda...I wanted this polish to be great.
