Gloss 'n Sparkle - perfection!

Long time no see! This time of year is super crazy for me. I have to pack up my classroom and move schools again so there hasn't been much time for nails. The flip side is that in 2 days I am on holidays for a month so I promise to whip up some new nail art for you guys and give my blog some TLC. 

Today I wanted to share a few swatches of some new Gloss n Sparkle shades that were very kindly given to me to try. Being a die-hard GNS fan girl already, of course there was jumping, squealing and maybe even a little peeing when they arrived in the mail. So without further adieu here are 3 new GNS polishes to drool over.

This is Can't Even breathe. My absolute fav of the bunch. Its a dusty lilac/purple jelly base with a mix of bronze, blue, and magenta hexagons with black, bronze and pink microdots. This is 2 coats with topcoat in sunlight. 

If you have been living under a polish rock for the last few years Gloss "n Sparkle is Australian made, hand mixed indie polish. The polishes are 3 free, come in beautiful holo bottles and are super high quality. Many of my clients ask me "Are Aussie indie polishes as good as the big brands?" - to this I would answer no...they are much, much better!

The second polish is Damsel in a Dress. A bubblegum pink jelly base with pink, purple and icey white hexagons. There are some pink microdots and larger dots in the mix too. GNS polishes have a very forgiving formula. You don't need to fish for glitter, the base is not too thick, just runny enough to get the floaty jelly finish. Dreamy!

The final polish is The Lotus Eater. A vibrant blue jelly with magenta, aqua and blue hexes, dark blue and aqua microdots and aqua squares. This is 2 coats with topcoat in sunlight. Stay tuned for some more GNS swatches later in the week.

Gloss 'n Sparkle - Fruit Tingle

If you look back through my past manis you"ll be able to quickly determine that I seem to gravitate towards pinks, purples and blues as a popular colour combo. I have a whole draw devoted to those colours in my Ikea Helmer and its bursting at the seams. So this indie glitter from Gloss ' n Sparkle was meant for me as it combines all those colours, and the icing on the cake, black sparkles. Read on for a review of Fruit Tingle.

The base of this polish is a creme with a range of glitter shapes and sizes. There is pink and light blue micro dots, blue and black hexagons and then a scattering of bigger black hexagons. The glitter applied pretty evenly through normal brush strokes, no dabbing required. But it did clump together leaving some areas with more glitter than others. You know I love, love, love my G'nS polishes but the formula of this particular one could do with some refining. The creme base is a little thick and the finish is pretty lumpy. It did smooth down with top coat but it just wasn't as perfect as Topsy Turvy or Unicorn Droppings. Still, the finished colour is a rich pink purple with a devine sparkle.

Gloss 'n Sparkle Topsy Turvy

One of the many bonuses of indie glitter polishes is that wearing them alone is fancy enough. Sometimes I am just not in the mood to make a ginormous mess and attempt nail art this late in the day. Why cover this gorgeous polish with anything? Its stunning on its own. Gloss 'n Sparkle Topsy Turvy.

Topsy Turvy is a mixture of black hexagons in 2 sizes, green and black micro dots, and smaller purple hexagons suspended in a milky jade base. This is 2 coats with topcoat. The jade green is luscious and applied like a dream. The glitter spread out perfectly without the need for dabbing to spread out the glitter evenly. It was really hard to capture the purple glitter as it appears blue with the jade background, however it is definitely purple.

 I am in love with this polish but then again I haven't met a Glass 'n Sparkle polish that I didn't love. If you like this polish head over to Angela's Etsy store and snap it up before its gone forever.

Gloss 'n' Sparkle - Berry Delicious

Berry Delicious indeed. Its like Barbie vomited on my nails and I LOVE her for it. Another unique and gorgeous indie polish from Australian polish maker Gloss 'n' Sparkle. Its a pink creamy base with small red, blue and purple hex glitters.

The formula for this polish was truly excellent. Glitters can be notoriously hard to paint with but I just applied this as I would a normal polish. This is two coats with topcoat. I didn't have to move the glitter flecks around, this is exactly how they came out of the bottle and they are pretty evenly spaced around. I used Seche Vite as my topcoat and it did ripple the finish just a little so next time I would probably use a different topcoat to be on the safe side.
