Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 Collection

Gasp! Stunning sparkly, matte glitters in bright, juicy colours. Its the Zoya Pixie Dust Summer 2013 collection. The first whole collection I have been excited about in a long time and I'm so glad I snapped them all up. Enough talking, lets go look at the pictures!

Zoya - Liberty is a rich blue colour with blue glitter "dust". Its my second favourite colour in the collection as its vibrant and the blue is a really nice hue.

The formula of all the polishes in this collection is awesome. They apply beautifully, no bald spots or brush dabbing required, just paint on like a creme. Zoya recommends letting the polish really dry between each layer to get the most out of the sparkly matte finish. I left it about 2 minutes between each coat. The textured finish really is something special.

Zoya - Solange is a bright yellow gold polish with platinum and gold glitter "dust".

The wear on the Pixie Dust polishes is amazing. Considering you don't use base or top coat, you will get at least 3 days chip free. I started to get tip wear on the third day and by the fifth day there was a few chips on the corners of my nails.

Zoya - Miranda is a mulberry pink polish with pink glitter "dust". This polish was a little more "juicy" than the rest in that it didn't dry as matte as the others but it was still super glittery.

Clean up can be a little tricky with texture polishes so its best to try not to flood your cuticles. In all the pictures I have used 2 coats of polish and the pictures were all taken in direct sunlight.

Zoya - Beatrix is a light orange polish with gold glitter "dust". Not a colour I would normally wear but its so juicy and delicious, like a sugary orange gem lolly.

Now brace yourself for my absolute favorite of the collection.

Zoya - Stevie is a beautiful muted lilac polish with silver glitter "dust". Its so girly and I really like it with my skin tone. This polish will be making many appearances in upcoming nail art, its one of my all time top 5 polishes. I know, that's a big call but its really gorgeous!

The entire Pixie Dust Summer 2013 collection is available now from Drama Queen Nails.

The last polish is Zoya - Destiny. A bright coral grapefruit colour with gold glitter "dust".

If you don't own any texture polish this would be a fab set to start with. They are superior to the Liquid Sands in that they are thinner, finer, they dry quicker and are much more sparkly. I cant wait to experiment with them in my nail art, I have high hopes for some wicked pixie gradients!

Zoya Gilty

Gold flake topcoat.....Stylish or ghetto fab? Im not normally a gold type of person. All my jewellery is silver or white gold but every now and then I think its fun to strap on your ghetto gold Carrie necklace and embrace something a little out of your comfort zone.

Zoya Gilty is an 18K real gold flake topcoat. The flakes are suspended in a clear suspension base. It is not fast drying, however is suitable to use as a final layer over any mani. I did apply a layer of Seche over mine to dry it quickly. The bottle contains a range of gold flakes from bigger nugget like chunks to smaller flake particles. Its like shredded gold in a bottle and might I say, very pretty shredded gold. It was a little difficult to create a glitter gradient with as it got a bit suspension base heavy when trying to build up the final layer near the cuticle, but its still really gorgeous. The formula when painting full nails was good, the flakes mostly spread evenly with only a few dabs needed here and there to fill a couple of empty spots.

Zoya Gilty is available in a limited edition 3 polish set. You get Zoya Raven and Zoya Purity as well as Gilty all stored in a luxury black velvet lined box....fancy! All Zoya products are cruelty free. In stock now. The black is China Glaze Liquid Leather and the nude is Essie Sand Tropez.

Daring Digits Before Color

Always a sucker for Indie polishes, especially one with large black round glequins mixed into smaller white hex glitters, I was most excited to get my paws on Daring Digits Before Color. After using a few other Daring Digits polishes I had high hopes for this polish, unfortunately it fell very short of my expectations.

I layered Before Color over Zoya Kristi, a bright fire engine red with a blue base.

The application of Before Color was HORRENDOUS! It may be the worst polish in my collection application wise. Trying to use the brush was just pointless, no large black dots would come out unless I dug for them. Even after storing the bottle upside down for 10 minutes it was still so difficult to get the large black dots out. So I resorted to using a toothpick to pick out the black dots then apply them individually. As for the white hexagon glitters....arrrgh! They came out fine using the brush however they were often stacked one on top of each other so on application when I tried to spread them out they wouldn't come apart as the base had kind of glued them together, you can see in the picture how the white hexagons are close together on the nail... that's why. When I did try to pull them apart it dug into the red polish and smeared it, fail!

I love the concept of this polish, the colours...right up my alley but when you have to spend half an hour individually placing the glitters you may as well just use free glitter and glue them on with top coat. Sad Panda...I wanted this polish to be great.
