And we're off! It's day 1 of this year's 31 day nail art challenge. First up, red nails. And to start things off with a bang, it's also time for a new tutorial. I have never seen chevrons done with this technique so I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a DQN original! Kapow!
Today's designs features:
- OPI - Red my fortune cookie
- OPI - Funky Dunky
- OPI - Don't pretzel my buttons
For today's mani I started by sticking a strip of sticky tape onto some baking paper.
I then used one of my hexagonal stamping plates as a stencil to draw the chevrons over the sticky tape. I used an OHP pen which was nice and thin and was able to draw on the tape without smudging.
Use fine scissors to cut up the strips of baking baking with the sticky tape still stuck to it.
Peel off the strips of chevron sticky tape from the baking paper and apply it to your nail. Paint polish in-between the sticky tape. Peel off the tape from your nail asap before it dries too much. You get a smoother line when you remove the tape whilst the polish is still wet.
Wait at least 5 minutes before applying topcoat so you don't smudge the lines. You could definitely do this as a decal also. If I was going to do it with dry polish strips I would draw the black stencil lines on the back of the baking paper, not directly on top of the polish strips, that way you could hide the black lines completely.
I really like this first mani, until tomorrow......
What a great technique for chevrons - they look perfect! :)
